Speakers or headphones?

Hi.
I wasn't sure where to post this but as speakers and headphones have to do with electronick equipment i decided to post here.
So what is your favorite?
I personally like speakers because they give a more realistick sound but i use headphones when i don't want anyone to hear or if i play an audiogame and possitioning in the stereo fielt is important.
Also how do you like your headphones or speakers? Do you like to hear a lot of bass, do you want to hear more the higher frequencies?
I personally like something in between. I want to hear low and high frequencies at the same time.
So it would be interesting to see what do you prefear.
Oh yes i almost forgot. Do you like having your music playing loud or normal levels?
I usually like it normal but if i am happy i like it loud. I don't know why.
So look forward to see what is your preference.
Nikos

I also use headphones after i record something because with headphones it is easier to identify any small noices such as clicks or hiss. They could be missed with speakers.

Depends with me. At work of course I have to use headphones. I prefer speakers though myself. Now if there's other people around I do use headphones like if I didn't want them to hear what I was doing. You are right about headphones help you identify things more easily.

i love using both. the best is 7.1 speakers. however, my bose QuietComfort noise canceling headphones are great! they work very very well on trains, plains, busses... anywhere with a low rumbling sound. They block out a bit of talking and crying kids, too. lol

Hard call, and like several have said, depends on what I'm doing. If I'm trying to read something from the computer or on tape, I like headphones. I can really crank up the speed, and get through it way quicker. I love my computer speakers for music. The sound is very warm and full. We live in a two-story house, and the computeris on the second floor. I love cranking it up and working around the house. If I'm listening critically to something, nothing like headphones for that. Some recordings are just "made" for headphones, because of what they do with stereo and panning. Listen to some Pink Floyd, or "come sail away" by Stix on headphones for example. Also, when Star Wars came out in the 70's, someone put together an album called "the story of Star Wars." This is what my idea of a movie sound track should be. They took parts of the actual movie sound track, and interspersed it with narration to move it along. The battle sceens were awesome in stereo, because you'd hear a ship firing weapons in one speaker, and the explotion in the opposite one.

Same here. I love headphones, especially with my mum around. She can't hear me Fing and blinding about this and that, and can't see that either if I have my screen turned off lollol, so headphones all the way for me, too.

It kinda depends on what I am doing for most things speakers but if I am using something like VT or Skype i use headphones or a mic/headset

I only use headphones if I'm on the computer at three in the morning, or if I'm listening to my portable CD player. Otherwise, I just use the speakers. If noone is home, I crank my music up really loud, and I love bass more than higher frequencies.

I used headphones all the way, unless I have company or am working around the house and have music on. by the way it Styx, not Stix.

I like speakers, most of the time, but will use headphones when I had to such as if there is too much noise going on around me or just outside my room. I also use a microphone headset, so usually use the headphones part when voice chatting as well.

Hi,
I prefer speakers and I like a little base, but not too much. I like my sound down, so that I can hear what's going on around me. I like being aware of the things outside what I'm listening too. Sometimes my fiance will ask me a question for example and I like being able to hear him, so that he doesn't have to repeat himself. It's frustrating for me though, because he loves headphones and will hardly use speakers unless they blas really loud and are loaded with base. They can't be quiet at all anytime. He has to have his headphones really loud and booming with base too, so I can't just ask him a question in a normal voice I have to yell, pound on the wall, or door frame of the bedroom to get his atention. This is extremely annoying for me, because he's less than 15feet away from me. I don't feel like getting up to ask him stuff all the time though. Sometimes I msn him my question, but that only works if he's online, which he hardly ever is. We've never been able to find a solution to this problem and I hate it.
Thanks for letting me rant a bit,
Dawnielle

I is a headphone kid. Unless I am cleaning or something. Then it's speakers and the louder the better especially if I've got to be far away from where they are centrally located. I like my music inbetween as far as frequency goes.

Well most of the time I use headphones becaues I live with my grandma and I like to have my music really loud and I dont want to bother her! Also when I am out I like headphones because I dont need everyone hearing what I am up to. Pretty much the only time I use speakers is when I've got my computer hooked up to my stereo, and I'm by myself. Or when I am doing something else where I have to be in other places. If I am by myself, i like my music loud, and if my grandma seems really busy, sometimes I get in those moods to blast it. Otherwise, if I am doing something or sleeping, I have it low, especially if I am just here in the room and Grandma is close by. Now if I have headphones on, it will always be loud and my grandma hates it because she cant get my attention!

For me its a mix of both. For instance, I like speakers when playing muds, but if I'm on skype, the first thing that cody or anyone will ask me is, can u plug in your headphones, because well, 1, y internal mic sucks, so they don't wanna hear my jaws, and 2, they wanna hear their stuff. If I'm streaming, I wanna hear my music, just cause i like to make sure my winamp isn't having problems, so speakers for the desktop, only headphones if i'm on skype. I like my speakers with some nice base, frequency kinda in the middle. I like to blast it if I'm loud, but both of my parents aren't that much into the metal/rock/heavy metal, so i gotta keep it low.

I like speakers better because I just do, but I use headphones all the time when I'm at college or if I'm playing a game or writing something I don't want people to hear. Jen, have you found a way of turning your vista laptop screen of yet? Hahahahahaha!

I use speakers at home, and headphones at school. Also use em if I'm on the computer late at night or if someone is studdying. Our house is a modular home, meaning it is one story, so I can only balst my music when my parrents aren't around. I think it's time to use headphones or my headset on Skype because, well, stuff echoes because of feedback if I don't, or the bass rattles things if music is being played over Skype. I looked up my speakers made by Logetech online, and it said they were movie theather quality speaker and surtified as such. So, they sound really really really good!.

I use headphones when there are people around so I don't disturb them as a curtisy, but when I'm in my room or my friends room I use speakers, ear buds are good, well I like them, and just the typical internal computer speakers works for me, I don't need anything fancy

I hate earbuds on the computer. They're fine for your Ipod/mp3/HiFi, but I just don't like them on the computer.

I use speakers most of the time. But i'll use head phones if i'm having a private conversation on msn, I don't want people to hear what I'm writing, or if i'm on the computer at like three in the morning. I also use head phones at school.

Ah, yes, I also use headphones at school. damn, I'd love a laptop ... but that's for another topic.

Well...my preference are the speakers, for that I wear hearingaids in both ears, that head phones puts too much pressure and hurts. But...I do still use head phones from time to time depending on what it is that I'm doing.

Post 27 by Siriusly Severus (The ESTJ 1w9 3w4 6w7 The Taskmaste) on Monday, 12-Oct-2009 21:39:18

Speakers, I don't really like wearing much around my ears and it tends to tie me up and I do things while I am on the computer and I move around extreme amounts.

I prefer no base, I like it just normal.

Music, well, loud enough, so I can hear it comfortably and a tiny bit louder, but no, I don't like you can hear it down the street loud. *ow*

Post 28 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Monday, 12-Oct-2009 21:49:23

I'd prefer speakers but don't live alone and need to use headphones when I'm not alone.

Post 29 by The Bad Influence (kicking ass and dying trying) on Wednesday, 14-Oct-2009 14:30:39

i like head phones for the most part, if i'm reading something i use headphones because jaws gives me a mygrane other wize, but i'm listening to music, definantly speakers. i'm still trying to figure out a way to have jaws threw the headphones and the music threw the speakers, that would make my day.
